Оleksandr GOROBCHENKO
Dean of the Faculty of Infrastructure and Railway Rolling Stock at the Kyiv Institute of Railway Transport of the State University of Infrastructure and Technologies
Oleksandr Gorobchenko started his career in 1996, working as a rolling stock repair mechanic, assistant driver, locomotive driver, and locomotive crew shift chief. In 2003, he graduated from the Ukrainian State Academy of Railway Transport in absentia and joined the Donetsk Institute of Railway Transport. From 2003 to 2014, he served as a senior lecturer, associate professor, and dean of the faculty.
In 2007, he defended his candidate's thesis on "Improving Traction Characteristics of Locomotives by Increasing the Coefficient of Use of the Coupling Mass" with a specialty in 05.22.07 - Rolling Stock and Train Traction.
In 2016, he defended his doctoral dissertation on "Development of the Theoretical Foundations of the Operation of the Locomotive Brigade - Train Ergatic System" with a specialty in 05.22.20 - Operation and Repair of Means of Transport.
He has been working at DUIT since 2015. Since 2017, he has been a professor at the Department of Railway Traction Rolling Stock. He teaches courses in "Locomotive Repair Technology," "Automated and Microprocessor Control Systems of TRS," and "Intelligent Technologies in Locomotive Management."
Since June 1, 2021, he has been the acting Dean of the Faculty of Railway Infrastructure and Rolling Stock.
His field of scientific interest includes the intellectualization of transport processes and control systems in transport, and the improvement of operational characteristics of traction rolling stock of railways.
He is the author of more than 100 scientific works, including 2 monographs, and holds 8 patents and copyright certificates. He actively participates in the training of scientific personnel, is a member of two specialized scientific councils, has trained one doctor of technical sciences, and supervises postgraduate students in specialty 273 "Railway Transport."
He participates in research projects as a manager and executor, with the total funding of the performed contractual works exceeding 4 million hryvnias.
He has been awarded diplomas by the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine (2019) and the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine (2021).
